EN standards for electrical cables
THE EN standards for electrical cables, developed by CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization), define the technical and safety requirements applicable to cables in the European Union. They aim to harmonize rules in order to guarantee uniform safety standards and facilitate the free movement of products.. Cables conforming to EN standards and tested according to requirements can obtain CE marking, guaranteeing their free circulation on the European market.
Unlike IEC standards, which serve as a global reference, EN standards adapt these international requirements to the European market. Each member country then transposes the EN standards into its own national system : For example, NF standards in France or DIN/VDE in Germany correspond directly to EN standards.

IN 60228 – Insulated cable conductors
Defines the classes of copper and aluminum conductors, nominal sections, the composition of the strands and the maximum electrical resistance values. The EN standard 60228 is equivalent to IEC 60228. EN cables certified according to this standard meet CE performance and conformity requirements.
IN 50525 – Low voltage cables 450/750 V
The EN standard 50525 applies to low voltage cables used in domestic installations, industrial and tertiary. It covers different types of electrical cables up to 450/750 V.
IN 50288 – Control cables and instrumentation
Specifies the construction and performance of cables for industrial control and instrumentation systems. Certified EN cables ensure reliable signal transmission while complying with CE compliance.
IN 50618 – Photovoltaic cables
Covers cables for solar installations, defining conductors, isolation, UV resistance, high temperatures and environmental conditions. Certified EN cables obtain CE marking, guaranteeing reliability and European compatibility.
IN 50575 – Construction cables and reaction to fire (CPR)
Standard for the reaction to fire of cables in buildings, mandatory for CE marking according to the CPR regulation. CE compliant cables guarantee safety and regulatory compliance.
